Bearsito Plays Ball is a heartwarming story about a little bear with big love for his family, his friends, and, of course, playing outside!
When Bearsito signs up for sports at school, his parents are thrilled... His dad, who grew up where fútbol (soccer) is everything, can't wait to teach him his moves. His mom, who knows "football" as helmets and pads, sews him a jersey and a helmet.
When practice day arrives, no one is quite sure why Bearsito is dressed the way he is - or what sport he's supposed to play! But when the ball flies by, everyone realizes it doesn't really matter. What truly matters is the joy of playing together.
This bilingual tale celebrates family, culture, and the universal love of play. Perfect for families with roots in more than one place, and for every kid who just wants to have fun with his friends.
Bearsito Juega con la Pelota es una historia llena de ternura sobre un osito con un gran corazón por su familia, sus amigos y, por supuesto, por jugar al aire libre.
Cuando Bearsito se inscribe en deportes en el colegio, sus padres se emocionan... Su papá, que creció donde el fútbol lo es todo, no puede esperar para enseñarle sus mejores jugadas. Su mamá, que conoce el "fútbol" con cascos y hombreras, le cose un jersey y un casco.
El día de la práctica, nadie entiende muy bien por qué Bearsito está vestido así... ¡ni qué deporte va a jugar! Pero cuando la pelota pasa volando, todos descubren que eso no importa. Lo que realmente importa es la alegría de jugar juntos.

Bearsito was created by three collaborators brought together by family, creativity, and a shared love for storytelling.
Blanca Moreno, a Colombian artist and art teacher, brings her deep connection to nature and her belief in nurturing children’s creativity. Nico Mejia, a Creative Director from Bogotá, found the inspiration for the story in the everyday wonder of his son, Lucca. And Melissa Tomalewicz, Lucca’s mom, draws on her Midwestern childhood adventures and her son’s boundless curiosity to help shape the heart of the book.
Together, Blanca, Nico, and Melissa created Bearsito as a joyful celebration of imagination, family, and the magic of seeing the world through a child’s eyes.

Los creadores de Bearsito—Blanca Moreno, Nico Mejia y Melissa Tomalewicz—unen sus talentos para dar vida a esta historia llena de ternura, curiosidad y aventura.
Blanca, artista colombiana y tía de Nico, aporta su sensibilidad visual y su profunda experiencia enseñando arte a niños. Nico, director creativo y papá de Lucca, encontró en la imaginación de su hijo la chispa para escribir este cuento. Melissa, mamá de Lucca, suma su amor por la naturaleza, la infancia y la creatividad cotidiana.
Juntos, han creado un libro que celebra la familia, la exploración y la magia de aprender en compañía.
